Angel Gustavo Garcia hails from the state of Chihuahua, Mexico, born into a family of artists.

His father, Gonzalo Curiel, is one of the most revered composers of popular music in Mexico's history.

His mother, famed vocalist Adelina Garcia, also known as the "angel of Mexico," toured the Americas and recorded on RCA for more than a decade.

During his first eight years, Angel Garcia grew up in a community of artists and musicians in Mexico City, where he fell in love with aesthetics at an early age.

His next few years were spent on his uncle's ranch in the El Paso area and in the Mexican desert, where he appreciated the intense spirituality of the desert environment.

Moving to Los Angeles in the late 1950's, Angel went through life much as any teenager until, in his 20's, he grew more serious about composing and became an accomplished guitarist.

Throughout the 1980's his songs, in the styles of jazz and samba, spread in popularity. They were performed around the world and recorded by singers on several albums.

It was also during this period that Angel Garcia started creating visual art pieces.

His first works were paper sculptures and experimentation with color using acrylics, dry pigments and watercolor.

Over the next few years he expanded into "junk art" and began painting on cotton linter and other materials used in paper casting.

Angel's inspiration comes from a personal understanding of how the physical universe works in conjunction with the overall spiritual scheme of things.

This understanding forms the basis of his personal viewpoint that the most repugnant objects can be seen to possess their own beauty.

The substance and richness inherent in the work reflects who Angel Garcia is and the routes he has traveled in his life thus far.

Mr. Garcia's work has been purchased by collectors around the world.
